Ormond Chapel on Hospital Hill

This is one of the oldest buildings in Napier.  Built in 1869.  Originally it was a classroom for a school.  You can see a photo of it back then on this link.  It moved to its present site in 1919.  I went there for Christmas service a few years back and imagined what it would have been like with people walking or travelling by horse and cart to attend back then.  It was dedicated as a memorial to Alexander Ormond who was a member of a notable Hawkes Bay settler family.  He died in World War One.
